Cebu FC logged its first victory in the 2022 Philippines Football League (PFL) with a close 4-3 win over Stallion Laguna FC at the Biñan Football Stadium in Biñan City on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022.
Cebu FC dominated the opening half with a commanding 3-0 lead with a brace by Chima Uzoka and a goal by Turkish midfielder Mert Altinoz. Arda Cinkir made it 4-0 with a goal early in the second half.
Stallion FC, however, mounted a comeback and scored three straight goals but Cebu FC held on for the victory.
On the other hand, Kaya FC-Iloilo remained unbeaten and at the top of the PFL table with a 4-1 win over Maharlika Manila FC. Jarvey Gayoso led Kaya FC to victory with a hat-trick, while Carlyle Mitchell also scored a goal.
Former Kaya FC player OJ Clarino scored Maharlika FC’s lone goal.
Kaya FC remained at the top of the table with 12 points from four wins and no losses.
Defending champion United City FC is in second with seven points after its match last weekend was canceled. Stallion FC is third with six points, while Cebu FC moved up to fourth with five points.
Azkals Development Team is fifth with three points. Mendiola FC 1991 and Maharlika FC are at the bottom of the table with no points.
