Cebu FC hopes to earn its first win in the 2022 Philippines Football League (PFL) as it takes on rival Stallion Laguna FC on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022, at the Biñan Football Stadium in Biñan City, Laguna.
Cebu FC is coming off a great game against defending champion United City FC (UCFC). Cebu FC forced UCFC to a 1-1 draw following a late equalizer by JB Borlongan last weekend.
Stallion FC, on the other hand, rested last weekend. Stallion FC’s last match was last Aug. 14, a 2-1 win over Maharlika Manila FC at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.
Stallion FC got the better of Cebu FC in the latter’s brief pro football history.
Stallion FC beat Cebu FC twice in the 2021 Copa Paulino Alcantara.
In the 2022 Copa Paulino Alcantara, Cebu FC finally beat Stallion FC, 2-1, in the elimination round. However, Stallion FC once again beat Cebu FC in the battle-for-third match for the second straight year.
On the other hand, Kaya FC Iloilo looks to stay at the top spot as it takes on Maharlika Manila FC, while UCFC faces Azkals Development Team in the other match at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Kaya FC holds the No. 1 spot in the league with nine points, followed by UCFC with seven points. Stallion FC is third with six points, ADT is fourth with three points and Cebu FC is fifth with a point. Maharlkka FC and Mendiola FC 1991 are at the bottom of the table with no points yet.
