The United City Football Club (UCFC) completed a come from behind win against Beijing FC, 3-2, to register a Filipino club’s first win in the AFC Champions League on Thursday.
Down 0-2 at half time, a free kick from Mark Hartmann at the 59′ mark started things off for the UCFC.
Newly naturalized Filipino football player Bienvenido Marañon equalized the game at 2-all at the 69′ mark.
Hartmann made another goal at the 80′ mark, which sealed the deal for the reigning Philippines Football League champs.
With the win, UCFC is now at the third place of Group I with 4 points. Kawasaki and Daegu are at the 1-2 spots of the group, while Beijing falls to the bottom of the standings.
UCFC will next see action on Sunday against Daegu FC, which drubbed them 0-7, during their first meeting on June 29.
