United City FC couldn’t turn the tide on South Korean side Jeonnam Dragons after suffering a 2-0 loss Wednesday, April 27 in the AFC Champions League at the BG Stadium in Pathum Thani, Thailand.
Hopes of getting a point from the K-League side slipped from the hands of United City after Leonard Pllana scored before the hour mark while Park In-Hyeok added a second goal that sealed the win for Jeonnam.
It was the fifth straight defeat in Group G for United City, which came into the match hoping to atone for its earlier setback to Jeonnam.
UCFC was on the verge of holding Jeonnam to a draw when Pllana scored the winner in their previous match last April 15.
The 2020 Philippines Football League champions would lose their next four matches with Melbourne City (3-0) and twice against BG Pathum United (5-0 and 3-1).
Already out of contention for a spot in the knockout stage, United City hopes to end the campaign on a bright note against Melbourne City on Saturday.
Pathum United leads the group with 11 points, followed by Melbourne City which has nine points and Jeonnam having seven points.
